In June, Marie Roy, 71, had a malignant tumor removed from her breast at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH). As the Tallahassee Democrat reports, not long after the surgery, she received a call from Dreama Taylor.
Dreama is a nurse navigator at TMH. Marie said:
“Dreama was one of the first people to call me after my surgery. She said that she would handle any concerns I had, which was amazing to me. I have always been the one to handle all the problems in the family; it felt good to finally have someone take care of me. … Knowing that someone would take my call and do things for me made this fight so much easier. It was a relief that Dreama would be there every step of the way, I’m so thankful.”
For Dreama, stories like Marie’s are why she is a nurse navigator. She said:
“The diagnosis of cancer is just so overwhelming and devastating. I just want to help them and make their lives easier. It’s already so much for them and they need the medical experience to be easier.”
