The Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation (VLCF) recently announced that it has donated $110,000 to the Aurora Cancer Center in Racine, Wis. to add nurse navigators to their staff, according to a recent press release.
VLCF began funding their nurse navigator initiative with Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center. Now, it has moved to expand the number of nurse navigators within the Aurora system.
Nurse navigators are vital to ensuring oncology patients receive compassionate, coordinated care that leads to positive outcomes and survivorship. Cancer care is complex on its own – when comorbodities are added to the mix, it becomes even more crucial to have knowledgeable professionals that can guide patients and their families through the treatment process.
